Part 2 - Living Room Makeover: Transforming a Space with Elegance and Charm
A living room makeover is one of the most exciting ways to refresh your home. In this post, we're unveiling Part 2 of a living room that effortlessly combines elegance with charm, featuring stunning pieces from the Moffatt Grace Home Collection—a handpicked selection of home goods available in our online store.
The Client’s Vision
Janet came to us with a vision to create a warm, inviting, and functional space, with a focus on infusing cozy tones and making her piano the centrepiece. She also wanted new furniture to elevate the room’s style while remaining practical for everyday use.
A key challenge was reimagining the fireplace and shelves to be both functional and visually appealing. Additionally, Janet wanted a space that could comfortably accommodate a Christmas tree and guests.
The result is a beautiful, functional room that perfectly reflects Janet’s vision and our design expertise.
Bringing the Vision to Life
To add a touch of elegance and architectural interest, we introduced wall moldings that helped give the space a refined, timeless feel. We also built out the fireplace to add depth and visual interest, making it a standout feature in the room.
“When we first moved into this home I knew this room had tons of potential but had no idea where to start. The decision to work with Victoria has proven to be one of the best investments we’ve made in our home. This room has become an oasis, a space for connecting with each other and escaping the chaos of daily life. I still pinch myself sometimes because I can’t believe I really live here! ”
The Power of Accessories
The final step in this living room makeover was bringing everything together with the finishing touches—decor pieces that pull the entire space into a cohesive whole. Faux plants, like our Shady Lady Tree, were strategically placed around the room to introduce texture and greenery. These plants not only add life to the space but also make the room feel more inviting.
We also included decorative pillows in soft textures and muted tones. The combination of linen and cotton fabrics offers a mix of comfort and luxury. A soft throw blanket draped over our Vintage Fallon Bench invites relaxation and adds a cozy touch.
Shelf Styling: Layering Texture and Personality
Open shelving is the perfect place to play with different textures, colours, and decor pieces that express your personality. In this living room, the shelves were styled with a variety of items that combine beauty and functionality.
We started with books, stacking them in a neat yet casual manner to add height and structure. Then, we layered in decorative objects like small vases, metal bowls and a vintage pot with faux baby’s breath from the Moffatt Grace Home Collection to add a pop of greenery and create visual balance.
Curtains as the Finishing Touch
Choosing the right curtains can elevate the ambiance of a room, and in this design, we carefully selected fabrics that bring texture and warmth, while allowing natural light to flood the space.
We chose the Pleated Liz Linen Drape in Ivory White from Two Pages.
The curtains provide a perfect frame for the room’s view, while also enhancing privacy and comfort. With the right curtain choice, the living room now feels more inviting and cohesive, tying together colours, patterns, and furniture in a beautifully balanced way.
The transformation of Janet's space was a perfect blend of functionality, style, and warmth, all tailored to her vision. By integrating thoughtful design elements like warmer tones, strategic furniture placement, and unique features such as the custom-built fireplace and wall moldings, we were able to create a space that felt both elevated and lived-in. The layered lighting added depth and atmosphere, while the rich colour palette, including the bold Dark Olive walls, tied everything together beautifully.
